Abstract

1424210 Towing floating structures GTM BATIMENT ET TRAVAUX PUBLICS 4 Dec 1973 [5 Dec 1972] 56094/73 Headings B7S and B7V An arrangement which permits the towing of a floating structure 8 along a bank or quay comprises a horizontal rail 1 supported on the bank or quay, a vertical sail 7 secured to the floating structure 8, and trolleys 3 and 5 movable along the rails 1, 7 respectively by means of wheels 2, 6 thereon, the trolley 3, 5 being interconnected by a resilient shock absorbing block 4 of rubber or other elastomeric material. The rails 1, 7 are of square section and the wheels 2, 6 grooved so that the trolleys 3, 5 are retained on the rails, and movement of the trolley 3 on its rail 1 will then cause corresponding movement of the structure 8 parallel to the rail, the rail 7 and trolley 5 accommodating for changes in draught and/or article which affect the position of the structure 8 in relation to the bank or quay.
