Abstract

1423283 Tail units DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 1 June 1973 [3 June 1972] 26358/73 Heading F3A An erectile tail unit for a rocket or projectile intended for firing from the barrel of a weapon, comprises: a casing comprising a double wall section formed by an outer wall 2a spaced apart from and integral with an inner wall 2, the outer wall being divided into a plurality of tongues by alternate straight slots 10 and arcuate slots 9, the slots 9 being juxtaposed with respect to like arcuate slots in the inner wall, which slots are extended forwardly at 11 beyond the slots 9 in the outer wall; and a plurality of fins 4 pivoted between the inner and outer walls and arranged to be folded along the tail unit prior to firing the rocket, the fins each being provided with an eccentric rod 8 which is driven along the slots 9 by a spring biased sleeve 5 when the rocket leaves the barrel of the weapon and causes the fins to swing out tangentially through the straight slots 10.
