Abstract
1423028 Calcium hydrogen-cis-epoxysuccinate MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL CO Inc 14 Sept 1973 [19 Sept 1972] 43242/73 Heading C2C Acid calcium cis-epoxysuccinate (otherwise known as calcium hydrogen cis-epoxysuccinate) having the formula is prepared by reacting acid calcium maleate with hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution in the presence of a water-soluble epoxidizing catalyst. The catalyst is suitably tungstic acid, molybdic acid, the heteropolyacids of tungsten and of molybdenum, and salts of these acids. The initial molar ratio of hydrogen peroxide to acid calcium maleate is suitably from 1À5 to 2 and the reaction is preferably carried out at a temperature of from 50‹ to 70‹ C.
