1422889 Sheet pile feeding device HANS-SICKINGER CO 15 Feb 1974 [8 March 1973] 7031/74 Heading B8R In a sheet pile feeding device in which piles 14 are advanced, e.g. to a book binding machine 12, on a plurality of transversely spaced belts 17, rising and falling fingers 26 are provided between the belts to control movement of the piles along the belts and pushers are provided on a reciprocable carriage 23 above the belts for pushing the piles from the belts, the pushers being raised and lowered in synchronism with the fingers. The device may be driven by a motor 28, in synchronism with the bookbinding machine. The motor drives the belts 17 continuously and causes momentary depression of the fingers 26, and reciprocation of the carriage 23 and raising and lowering of the pushers thereon via cams and linkage. The carriage supports two rockable shafts on which arms are adjustably mounted, the arms carrying front, convexly shaped pushers, and rear, wedge shaped pushers. In operation, the fingers are momentarily depressed so that a pile 14 is released for advancement on the belts 17. The fingers then return so that the rear part of the advancing pile is dragged over them and the next pile stopped. At the same time, the carriage moves rearwards and the pushers are raised. Then the carriage returns forwards and the pushers are lowered so that the rear pushers remove the pile from the belts on to a downsteam runner (25), Fig. 5 (not shown), whilst the front pushers push a preceding pile, on the runner (25), into the machine 12. A side jogger (83) is provided.
