Abstract

1421737 Fuel injection nozzles C A V Ltd 2 Feb 1973 [15 Feb 1972] 7051/72 Heading F1B [Also in Division G1] A liquid fuel injection nozzle having a spring loaded valve member (not shown) movable from a seat by fuel pressure comprises in a body 10 a plug 12, on a portion 15 of which are mounted one or more strain gauges 16 to give an electrical signal to indicate the spring force transmitted through portion 15. The strain gauges may be Piezoelectric or Piezo-resistive and the connections to them are made via drillings 17. Damping medium, e.g. an O-ring, may be located between the spring abutment of portion 15 and the wall of bore 14. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the plug 12 is a single part but in Fig. 1 it consists of outer portion 13 and portion 15.
