Abstract

1290647 Timing ignition FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [3 March 1970 (2)] 22499/71 Heading F1B A diaphram vacuum servo comprises a housing 54, a pair of flexible annular diaphram members 66, 82 each mounted in the housing for independent movement relatively to each other and each defining with the housing a different vacuum chamber 80, 84 means 81, 42 connecting each of the chambers to a separate source of fluid at a pressure varying from a maximum essentially atmospheric pressure level to a minimum sub atmospheric pressure or vacuum level for reciprocating movement of each of the diaphram members as a result of the changes in pressure acting thereon, movable actuating means 86 operatively connected to a first one 82 of the diaphram members for movement therewith, first spring means 74 biasing a second one 66 of the diaphram members towards the other second spring means including a spring 106 operatively positioned between the members whereby movement of either of the members in one direction effects an increasing biasing force by the second spring means on the other of the members to effect a movement of the other of the members in the one direction and force transfer means 72 on the second diaphram member operatively engaged at times by the first member upon movement of the first member in one direction for limiting the movement of the first member in the one direction in a variable manner as a function of the position of the second member. As shown the actuating means 86 is connected to a spark timing control rod 24 of an ignition distributor 10.
