1421543 Removing ferrocyanide and ferricyanide from waste solutions FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 17 Nov 1972 [17 Nov 1971 30 Dec 1971 6 March 1972] 53367/72 Heading C1C [Also in Division G2] Ferricyanide and/or ferrocyanide ions are removed from a waste solution obtained from a photographic treatment by contacting the solution with a weakly basic amino (i.e. -NH 2 , =NH or # NH) group-containing anion exchange resin (a) in a free base form in the presence of a material having a buffering capacity at a pH of 7 to 9 or (b) in a salt form. The resin may be a styrene-divinyl-benzene copolymer, a methacrylate-divinylbenzene copolymer or phenol-formaldehyde condensate containing -NH 2 , =NH or #N groups. The resin may have units having one of the following formulae where m = 1 to 3 where n = 1 to 3 or The buffereing agent may be phosphoric, citric, tartaric, phthalic, acetic, boric or metaboric acid or alkali metal or ammonium salts thereof or a bicarbonate. The solution may be a used rinsing water or a used photographic bleaching, fixing or reducing solution. The resin may be regenerated using acid, alkali and/or salt.
