Abstract

1345716 Treating rinse water OXY EFFLUENT CONTROL Ltd 17 April 1972 [22 March 1971] 7491/71 Heading C1C An apparatus for rinsing articles, e.g. electroplated articles, comprises a first rinsing station 1, a second rinsing station 2 and an ion exchange unit 4 (e.g. containing cation and anion exchange resins) in which at least part of the rinse water from station 2 is treated for reuse in station 2. In the embodiment shown fresh water is added through line 10, water is passed from station 2 to station 1 through line 11 and water from station 1 is treated in chemical purifier 3, e.g. to remove cyanides, and returned to station 1. In other embodiments fresh water may be passed to station 2 through unit 4; or fresh water may be passed directly to station 1 with station 2 and unit 4 forming a closed loop, there being no lines 10 and 11. The rinse stations may make use of sprays.
