Frames and framing.-Relates to slipways for launching torpedoes and mines from ships and boats especially from the stern of small high-speed motor boats, for example as described in Specification 128,238, [Class 9 (ii), Torpedces &c.]. The slipway constituted by a sloping open-top trough a, b, c, Figs. 1 and 3, and the adjacent parts of the hull of the boat are supported and strengthened by vertical frames A, B and gussets S, transverse beams h, and longitudinal members i, j, k, m, n, o, p, h<1>, and t. Transverse bars 1 across the top of the trough are provided to hold the mines u and their wheeled carriers v in place on inclined rails w in the trough. These rails may project beyond the stern of the boat. In a modification, Fig. 7, the vertical frames S<5> have no vertical members, such as e, Fig. 1, and are held together by transverse tie bolts S<2>, the bottom c of the trough being stiffened by transverse horizontal beams S<4> to resist the tension of the tie bolts; the vertical gussets are not used, but the hull d<1> is strengthened by transverse frames S'.
