Abstract

1419745 Machining bevel gears EXPERIMENTALNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT METALLOREZHUSCHIKH STANKOV 1 March 1974 9287/74 Heading B3K In a straight bevel gear grinding machine a generating motion is provided to form the flank contour and crown of the gear teeth, the grinding disc being rotatably mounted on a carriage 44 mounted in a cradle 2 on the machine frame 1, the gear to be machined being rotatably supported on a work spindle 4 mounted in a headstock 6 and which is slidably adjustable to facilitate the angular adjustment of the axis 5 of the gear and spindle 4 in relation to the axis 3 and of the cradle and grinding disc, which is determined by the tooth form desired. The ends of the cradle are provided with rectangular openings 41, 42 which accommodate guide members which support the carriage 44 which is subjected to a transverse oscillatory motion within the guide members about a pivot 59, 60, at the end of the carriage spaced from the grinding disc. The cradle is also subjected to a rotary to and fro motion about its horizontal axis 3 whilst a continuous rotary motion is applied to the work spindle 4 rotating the gear G. A motor 38 is provided to drive the grinding disc by way of a flexible shaft 40, the motor being mounted on the machine frame 1. A motor 10 provides the drive for the rotary to and fro motion of the cradle 2 by way of shaft 12 and transmission gears and shafts 13, and 15 to 26 inclusive and also provides the drive to the work spindle 4 by way of gears 13, 14, 27 to 31. The motor 10 further provides the actuation of the head stock slide 7 by way of shaft 15, worm gear 33 and cam and lever 34, 35 which operates in oposition to the fluid unit 36 to provide the sequential disengagement between the grinding disc and workpiece gear as the gear rotates to bring successive gear teeth into the machining position with the grinding disc. The transverse oscillatory motion of the carrier 44 with the grinding disc W is effected from a motor 47 via transmission 48 and telescopic shaft 49 and crank and pin 70, 50 which causes the reciprocation of a slide 51, in ways 52, to which the carriage is adjustably connected. To compensate for wear on the grinding disc and resultant redressing thereof a ratchet type adjustment 68 actuated by fluid means 67 is connected to the pivot end of the carriage 44 and to the corresponding end of the cradle 2, the operation of the ratchet mechanism actuating a screw 64 to adjust the position of the pivot and hence maintain the position of axis of the grinding disc. The operation of the various components of the machine tool are effected simultaneously and in a predetermined relationship which effects the appropriate movement relationship between the grinding disc and the work gear to generate the required gear tooth form.
