Abstract

1435775 Generating gears; pre-setting ORDENA TRUDO KRAS ZNAMENI EXPERIMENTAL NI INST METALLOREZHUSCHIKH STANKOV 5 Sept 1973 41703/73 Headings B3K and B3B A straight bevel gear grinding machine comprises a main flexible drive 77 for a spindle mounted abrasive disc tool 4 rotatable about a first axis c, a cradle 3 mounted on a bed 1 to be rotatable about a second axis d and so impart a generating motion to said disc tool 4, a workhead spindle 6 rotatable about and movable axially along a third axis e and arranged to mount a workpiece 7, a kinematic drive means connecting between the cradle 3 and the workhead spindle 6, and a carriage 9 carrying the disc tool 4 and being reciprocable across the face of the cradle 3; the machine being capable of grinding both sides of the bevel gear teeth with a single disc tool after one initial machine setting-up and wherein the disc tool 4 is movable along its axis c between two end set-over positions, depending upon which side of a tooth is being machined. The kinematic drive means comprises a motor 11 driven gear train 26-31 which divides at the reversing gearing 40, 41 and through another branch 47-53 the workhead spindle 6. The cradle 3 and spindle 6 are both rotated by worm 8 wheel drives 32, 34 and 33, 35 respectively. The set-over rotation of the cradle 3 is achieved by moving the worm 34 axially to partially rotate the cradle. The cradle is also reciprocably rotated by means of the reversing gearing 40, 41 during the grinding of a tooth. The worm 34 is moved axially by a crank mechanism (54-57) (Figs. 6, 7, not shown) having adjustable stops (66), (67) to limit the travel. The crank (57) is rotated by a pressure cylinder driving a rack which engages a pinion connected to the crank. The setting-over of the disc tool is achieved by oppositely directed pressure cylinders (14) (Fig. 2, not shown) which respectively hold the disc tool 4 in each of its two end positions against adjustable cam stops (19), (10) (Fig. 4, not shown) which include setting dials (24), (25). The workpiece 7 may have pre-cut tooth spaces before grinding, or be a solid gear blank. In the machining operation one side of all the teeth are ground, the set-over movements are made, and all the other sides are ground.
