Abstract

1419652 Adjusting suspension height MONROE BELGIUM NV 10 Jan 1973 [11 Jan 1972] 1401/73 Heading B7D The attitude between the sprung and unsprung parts of a vehicle is controlled by a system having one or more gas pressure operated struts 12, 14 directly connected to a gas source and a combination valve and switch assembly responsive to change of attitude of the sprung part to either energize a compressor unit 28 or open a valve 62 thereby restoring the attitude to normal. When the sprung part of the vehicle drops below a predetermined level relative to the unsprung part, switch 61 closes, energizing a motor 35 driving the compressor and increasing the air pressure until the level is restored. Similarly if a predetermined level is exceeded lever 56 opens valve 62 to the atmosphere reducing the pressure to restore the level to normal. In a modification the excess air is released into a reservoir (72) from which it can be drawn by the compressor for re-use.
