1419337 Pneumatic separation GOSUDARSTVENNY VSESOJUZNY INSTITUT PO PROEKTIROVANIJU PREDPRIJATY KOKSOKHIMICHESKOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI 29 Aug 1973 40651/73 Heading B2H [Also in Division F4] In apparatus for dedusting loose material, e.g. coke, travelling downwardly through an indined trough 1 the top of which is closed by a cover 6, compressed air from a blower 5 is supplied through a duct section 4 to a slottype grate 3 located in an opening in the bottom wall 2 of the trough 1 to remove dust particles from the material as it passes over the grate, the resulting dust-laden air being removed through a duct section 7 leading to a dust collection device (not shown) and a blower 8. The volume of air drawn in by the upper blower 8 is arranged to exceed the volume of air delivered by the lower blower 5. The grate 3 comprises a plurality of parallel strips 9 arranged one above the other in step-like fashion transversely to the longitudinal axis of the trough. The width of the slots 10 between adjacent strips 9 can be adjusted, as required, by means of a bar and lever arrangement actuated by a hydraulic cylinder 17. The bar and lever arrangement comprises a plurality of axles 11 each associated with a strip 9, levers 14 and a bar 15. One end of each lever 14 is rigidly connected to a respective axle 11 while the other end is pivotally connected to the bar 15 which is common to all the levers 14; the bar 15 is connected to the rod 16 of the cylinder 17.
