Abstract

1419184 Bleaching compositions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 2 July 1973 [30 June 1972] 31493/73 Heading D1P A bleaching composition comprises an aqueous acidic solution of hydrogen peroxide containing a water soluble stannate salt, a tin chelating agent serving to prevent precipitation of tin from the composition and an ammonium salt. The solution may have a pH of 0.5-7. The ammonium salt may be the sulphate, nitrate, acetate; chloride, citrate, phosphate or formate The stannate salt may be sodium stannate trihydrate, sodium metastannate or potassium stannate. The chelating agent may be an alkylidene diphosphoric acid, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid or nitrilo trimethylene phosphonic acid. The composition may also contain magnesium sulphate, or phosphates. In use the composition is made alkaline, pH 9-11, by adding phosphate, silicate, soda ash, borax or caustic soda. The composition can be used to bleach textiles, wood and hair at 10-93‹C.
