Abstract

1418327 Working superplastic alloy sheet at specified temperature ISC ALLOYS Ltd 2 Aug 1974 [23 Aug 1973] 40063/73 Headings B3Q and B3V Superplastic alloy sheet is partially formed by relative movement between the sheet and a male die, differential fluid pressure is applied across the partially formed sheet, and further relative movement is applied between the sheet and die preferably until the sheet is in conformity with the die. Air pressure may be applied opposite the die with or without halting the relative movement. A Zn-Al alloy sheet may be used containing 1-20% by weight Al and up to 0À5% by weight of Cu or Mg. The blank was formed at 200-250‹ C. after being conditioned by heat treatment and quenching or slow-cooling and working, e.g. rolling. Specifications 1,297,101, 1,225,819 and 1,120,007 are referred to.
