Abstract
1418166 Dissipative terminations THOMSON-CSF 21 Feb 1973 [24 Feb 1972] 8584/73 Heading H1W A strip line dissipative termination comprises ground plane consisting of a resistive metal alloy having good thermal conductivity, e.g. a nickel-chrome, titanium or vanadium alloy. The ground plane is thermally coupled to a heat radiator. As shown, the inner conductor 40 of a co-axial transmission line 40, 50 is connected at 4 to the line conductor 2 of the termination and the outer conductor 50 is connected to the resistive ground plane 3. The dielectric layer 1 preferably consists of beryllia. The line conductor 2 may have the configuration of, e.g. a rectangular spiral. The ground plane 3 lies in contact with a heat radiator, e.g. part of a chassis, from which it is insulated by a film of, e.g. beryllia grease, silicone grease or aluminium oxide. The device may be used to terminate a waveguide in which case the conductor 40 forms a coupling probe.
