Abstract

1418142 Ventilators SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 March 1974 [12 March 1973] 11739/73 Heading F4V A ventilator for mounting in a motor vehicle, ship or aircraft comprises a tubular housing 10, a ring 16 mounted in the housing for angular displacement about the longitudinal axis of the housing and a disc 21 pivotally mounted on the ring 16 to control the direction and rate of air flow from the ventilator. The housing comprises a first member 12 having a flared end portion 14 with longitudinally extending slots 30 and a second member 13 which is a snap fit on portion 14. The ring 16 is received in a groove formed by flanges 26, 17 on member 13 and abuts the free end of the end portion 14. The ring 16 may include axially displaceable portions (24, Fig. 6) whereby the effective thickness of the ring is variable. The ventilator components are plastics mouldings.
