Abstract
1417711 Treating water J M HASTING (ENG) Ltd 2 March 1973 [3 March 1972] 9967/72 Heading C1C [Also in Division E1] A waste water trap for a sink, basin or bath, in the form of a reservoir, is heated by means at a level below the top of the reservoir in order to inhibit the growth of pathogenic micro-organisms in the trap. Water or other liquid is supplied through a narrow bore inlet tube 17 via solenoidoperated valve 18 when a heater 11 is on, the heater being controlled via control means 13 in accordance with the water temperature, measured by a thermostat 14, in the embodiment shown. The control means in such that the heater and valve 18 are energized when the temperature in the trap falls below 74‹ C., e.g. and de-energized when the temperature reaches 99‹ C., e.g. the heater preferably being capable of heating the water from 70‹ C. to 99‹ C. in about four minutes. The heater does not need to heat the water when there is a flow from the sink, basin or bath.
