Abstract

417,029. Pasteurizing apparatus. BERGEDORFER EISENWERK AKT.-GES. ASTRA-WERKE, Bergedorf, Hamburg, Germany. Feb. 26, 1934, No. 6240. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1933. [Class 49.] In a pasteurizer operating on the flash method and having thermostatic control of the heating medium the liquid is automatically recirculated if its outlet temperature falls below the prescribed minimum. In the illustrated embodiment milk from the tank 3 is driven by the pump 4 through the heater 1, heat-sensitive device 21, and valve 8 which diverts it either to the outlet 10 or the return line 22. Hot water from the tank 2 is circulated by the pump 5 through the heater 1. The heat-sensitive device 23 operates the valve 13 controlling the supply of steam to the tank 2. The device 21 actuates the change-over valve 15 which admits water from the pipe 14 to operate the two-way valve 8 so as to recirculate the milk when necessary.
