Abstract
1417212 Colour television tubes TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc 20 Sept 1973 [13 Dec 1972] 44197/73 Heading H1D Local distortion of the shadow mask in a colour television tube is reduced by forming the mask of a metal laminate material, one layer of which is of mild steel to provide mechanical strength, and another layer of which is of a material of greater thermal conductivity than the steel. As described, the high thermal conductivity material may be copper, with a layer of steel on one or both sides, which may be darkened to increase cooling by radiation. One or both sides of the composite structure may be coated with a thin layer of nickel, to facilitate the etching of the mask apertures during manufacture. Thickness ranges for the various layers are given.
