Abstract

1417173 Ship unloading apparatus BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd 22 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 8166/72 Heading B8E Apparatus for unloading material from a ship's hold 29 comprises a luffable jib 10 rotatable on a platform 4 on a portal frame 1 movable by bogies 2 on quay tracks 3. The end part 10b of the jib remains horizontal during luffing through its parallel linkage connection 28 and at its remote end has a structure 31 supporting an elevator 30 on swivel means 33 allowing slewing and ensuring by gravity that the set orientation remains. Bucket wheels 41 which gather the material are supported at 40 offset from elevator 30. Material collected is conveyed by a conveyer 42 to the bucket conveyer 30b of the elevator which discharges through a shoot 35 on to the jib conveyer 17 which in turn discharges into a hopper 15 from which a conveyer 19 feeds the material down through frame 1 to a discharge conveyer 20.
