Abstract
1417021 Luffing arm apparatus SIMON ENG DUDLEY Ltd 29 Nov 1973 [22 Sept 1972] 43870/72 Heading B8H A vehicle with a boom mounted platform for inspection above or below the level of the vehicle comprises a vehicle 10 with a turntable 12 to which is pivotably mounted one end of a first section 14 of the boom. A second section 16 is pivotably mounted at one end to the other end of the first section 14 and pivotably mounts at its other end a platform 18 coupled to the boom so as to remain level at all positions of the boom. Hydraulic rams or motors are connected between the turntable and the first section and between the first and second sections to move the sections from an inoperative position wherein the second section is parallel with and beneath the first section to operative positions wherein the first section may be positioned between a 45 degree downwardly inclined position and a 135 degree upwardly inclined position relative to the horizontal and the second section may be positioned from its inoperative position relative to the first section and a position 180 degrees therefrom wherein it is parallel with the first section and in line therewith.
