Abstract

1416731 Gas-liquid contacting apparatus SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 5 Feb 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 5618/72 Heading B1R Apparatus for contacting liquid and vapour comprises a column or column section with trays provided with liquid discharge passages consisting of oblong basins 11, 12, 13, the basins on each tray being arranged in parallel and the basins extending partly above and partly below the tray the bottom part of each basin being provided with dicharge openings 14, 15, at least in the side walls, the side wall openings discharging liquid in a direction normal to the walls, the traps being arranged such that oblong basins of two consecutive trays are situated crosswise above one another, and the openings 14, 15 being situated only above the active area of the tray below. The discharge openings may consist of slits or round holes and the design may embody profiled walls and/or liquid seals.
