Abstract

1416054 Waste disposal apparatus R DEROUINEAU 4 Sept 1973 [26 Sept 1972] 41627/73 Heading B2A Waste disposal apparatus for use in the outlet of a water closet comprises a chamber with inlet and outlet and a pair of coacting relatively-movable members one of which is toothed and the other notched. A perforate disc 10 Fig. 3 has teeth 19 which cooperate with notches 25 on a retractable coacting member 21. Material is admitted via a pipe 9 to a chamber 4. Fine material passes via orifices 18 in the disc 10 under the influence of a suction pump 2. Coarse material is cut by the teeth 19 and member 21. Hard material is progressively cut on each revolution, the member 21 yielding on its pivot shaft 22 and being returned by a spring (23) Fig. 1 not shown. The disc is driven at 100-200 rpm by a motor 3 and gearing 13, 12 Fig. 2. An alternative construction (not shown) may use reciprocatory rather than rotary action or rotation of the coacting member against a fixed disc. When used with a lavatory pan the flush and comminuting functions may be controlled by a common switch.
