Abstract

1415845 Adjustable swath boards TEXAS INDUSTRIES Inc 7 Nov 1972 [9 Nov 1971 26 Nov 1971] 51372/72 Heading A1F A hay making machine comprises at least one swath board 9 connected to an implement frame 3 so as to be pivotable about a vertical and a horizontal axis. The swath board mounting incorporates castellated ring segments 104 concentrically disposed about the axis of rotation of each rake member 1. The castellations 105, 106 and 107 of the segment 104 provide locations for the carrier arms 100 of the swath boards 9. Castellations 105 and 106 provide locations for two operating positions shown with solid and ghosted lines respectively in Figure 1 and castellation 107 provides a location for an inoperative trans porting position, shown in Figures 2 and 7. Vertical adjustability of the castellated ring 104 is achieved by the provision of wing nuts 114 screwed onto studs protruding through slots 115 in the ring 104. Pivotability about a vertical axis is achieved by a collar 103 concentrically disposed around the shaft 2 of the rake member 1. Pivotability about a horizontal axis is achieved by providing a forked end 101 to the arms 100 which is pivotally attached to a projection integral with the collar 103 by a horizontally disposed pin 102. In operation a tubular guide shoe 108 supports the swath boards 9 on the ground, the ring 104 being positioned to retain the boards in their radial disposition while allowing the vertical movement necessary to accommodate undulations in the ground. In transit the boards 9 occupy the position indicated in Figures 2 and 7. The boards 9 consist of a plurality of alternately equal length resilient rods 109 parallel to each other.
