Abstract

1415185 Air filter, centrifugal separator INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO 4 Dec 1972 [7 Dec 1971] 55865/72 Headings BIT and B2P An I.C. engine air intake filter has fins 5 which impart rotation to incoming air before it passes inwards through tubular filter element 6, and dust thus centrifugally separated from the air is discharged through a valve comprising a ball 12 movable vertically between seat 14 and stop 15. Figs. 3-5 (not shown) depict alternative constructions of seat and stop. Engine suction normally keeps the valve closed, but weight of dust and engine vibration open it intermittently.
