Abstract
1414991 Discharge end of pneumatic conveyor H TRUTZSCHLER and H TRUTZSCHLER [trading as TRUTZSCHLER & CO] 5 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 45928/72 Heading BIT [Also in Division D1] The discharge end of a pneumatic conveyor comprises a downwardly directed conduit 1 open at the lower end where conveyed fibre flock is discharged between rollers 2, 3, and an air discharge opening 4 extending across the width of the conduit and partly closed by a roller 5 which can comprise an array of axially spaced flat discs or a helical spring (Fig. 4, not shown) of flat or round section wire. The spacing between the metal or plastics discs or the turns of the spring retains the flock in the conduit, but any flock which does penetrate the roller is blown therefrom by outgoing air where the rotating roller re-enters the conduit, and a brush at this point can assist in cleaning the roller. The roller 5 may be toothed, and an opening 4 could accommodate two interlocking rollers. The spring-type roller of Fig. 4 is supported by a backing roller (24) and its axial pitch is adjustable. The discharge flock may be fed to a carding machine.
