Abstract

A rotary device forms spirals of yarn or sliver, delivering them (e.g.) on to a moving belt for further processing, such as steaming or dyeing. The device comprises rollers feeding the yarn or sliver into a rotating pipe with a sloping wall, which deviates the path of the yarn towards the exit of the pipe. The diameter of the spirals may be controlled by the speed of rotation of the pipe. Unlike prior art. devices it is not necessary to stop the machine to feed the yarn. The device is very simple and cheap to construct.
