Abstract

1414430 Meshing gear pumps LAB-CRAFT Ltd 8 Nov 1973 51934/73 Heading F1F In a gear liquid pump of either the internally or externally meshing type, the tooth profile of each gear comprises a series of inwardly and outwardly facing semi-circles merged into one another and whose respective centres are located on the pitch circle of that gear. Those semicircles constituting the projecting teeth have a smaller radius than those semi-circles into which they merge. As described the pump is of the internally meshing type and a stationary member 15 is located in the space formed between the two eccentrically arranged gears 10 and 11. The member 15 has an arcuate surface 1b concentric with the rotational axis of the spur gear 10 and an arcuate surface 17 concentric with the rotational axis of the ring gear 11, the teeth of the two gears running on the surfaces 16 and 17 respectively. The two gears are located with in a cylindrical recess formed in a cap member which has inlet and outlet ports and which fits on to the end of a housing containing an electric motor whose output shaft drives the spur gear 10. The two gears are preferably made of injection moulded acrylic.
