Abstract
1414211 Mining machine VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE - ALPINE MONTAN AG 29 June 1973 [30 June 1972] 31056/73 Heading E1F A rotating mechanism, for example in a mining machine, comprises a swivel head I to which a jib arm is mounted for rotation about an axis 7, and a member 2 on which the swivel head is mounted, for rotation about an axis 3 substantially perpendicular to the axis 7, by means of a radial bearing 24 and a thrust bearing 18 capable of taking up axial load in two opposite directions and whose inside diameter exceeds the diameter of the radial bearing. The thrust bearing comprises an annular plate bolted to the member 2 and disposed between surfaces 20, 21 of the swivel head. The radial bearing 24 is self-aligning, and is axially spaced from the thrust bearing and close to driving gear 22. The diameter of the plate 18 is preferably between a quarter and a third of the largest overhang of the jib arm.
