Abstract

1413293 Vibration dampers for cables GOULD Inc 21 Nov 1972 [14 Aug 1972] 53646/72 Heading F2S [Also in Division H2] Device for spacing and damping conductors, Fig. 2, or for supporting and damping a single conductor, Fig. 3, comprises one or more shafts 10 each having a clamp 12 to take a conductor, a body 19 or 20 forming at least one cavity 16, such cavity being generally cylindrical and having a rib 28 in its central portion forming a restriction, a concave portion 36a, 36b, 36c on shaft 10 and a generally tubular, radially compressed, elastomeric member 38 between rib 28 and the concave portion of the shaft. The end of shaft 10 within the cavity has a flange 34 of larger diameter than the constriction formed by rib 28 so that the shaft cannot leave the body should the elastomeric body 38 fail. To enable the shaft to be assembled in body 19 or 20 the body comprises a number of members which can be assembled around the elastomeric member mounted on its shaft. A further rib 30 is formed about the mouth of chamber 16 to limit the "conical" movement of shaft 10. An elastomeric member 14 is provided in each clamp.
