1412805 Centrifuge rotor INTERNATIONAL EQUIPMENT CO 10 July 1973 [10 July 1972] 32894/73 Heading B2P A centrifuge rotor comprises a housing 2, 3 rotatable about a vertical axis and having a core 8 therein, the inner wall of the housing or, as shown, of an insert 4 fitted therein, being formed from two sections 5, 6 that respectively are inclined radially outwardly from the top and bottom of the housing at an angle of at least 12‹ up to 45‹ to the vertical axis of the housing and which intersect along a horizontal intermediate line of the housing, a plurality of equally spaced openings forming pockets 7 being formed in the inner wall surface of the housing or insert at the said horizontal line, the core 8 being located along the vertical axis of the housing and having an outer wall surface 9, 10 substantially parallel to the inner wall surface 5, 6 of the housing or insert, and a plurality of equally spaced fins 11 extending radially from the core toward the housing. The rotor may be used for separating solids from liquid. A cap 14 is attached to the housing to retain liquid therein. The separated solids collect in the pockets during centrifugation.
