Abstract

1412790 Rubber powders HARRISON & CROSFIELD Ltd 28 Dec 1972 59871/72 Heading C3E A rubber powder is produced from a rubber latex by spray drying a latex having a zahn cup no. 2 viscosity of at least 23 seconds. A detackifying agent may be brought into contact with the rubber during spray drying and the latex may contain additives or compounding agents. The latex may be a creamed or thickened latex. Examples are given of drying a natural rubber latex creamed by addition of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and stabilized with hydroxylamine sulphate and a centrifuged natural rubber latex. Silica is introduced with the hot air during drying and more silica is added to the powder produced after milling and before screening the powder.
