Abstract

1412330 Gooseneck elbow KOPPERS CO Inc 24 Jan 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 3703/73 Heading C5E A gooseneck elbow for interconnecting an ascension pipe 13 and a gas collecting main 25 on a coke oven battery and which provides a path for hot gases rising substantially vertically from the ascension pipe so that the hot gases are directed around a bend and then substantially vertically downwards towards the gas collecting main, is provided with only one steam aspirating nozzle 29 disposed substantially in alignment with that part of the elbow which directs the hot gases substantially vertically downwards, for directing steam towards the collecting main, the nozzle comprising a body in which are six orifices each 60 degrees apart and at an angle of 30 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle body. Flushing liquor sprays 31 may also be provided in the elbow.
