Abstract

1412188 Web accumulators WEAN UNITED Inc 31 Aug 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 41016/72 Heading B8R A web accumulator comprises a first set of roller pairs 24 defining a circular inner roller basket and a second set of roller pairs 38 defining a circular outer roller basket, the baskets defining between them a space for the accommodation of two web coils joined by a referse loop. Each roller pair of the inner basket is supported on carriage members 25 slidably mounted on radially extending guide rods 26 and connected to arms 31 which are driven by screw jacks 34. The roller pairs of the outer basket are supported on carriage members 39 slidable on guide rods 42 and connected to rods 47 which are driven by screw jacks 45. The baskets are upright, the rollers of the lowermost two pairs being positively driven to feed in the web 10 which leaves the accumulator via a central spool. The web may be metal strip fed from a welding station to a pickling line.
