1411990 Rotary harrows C VAN DER LELY NV 19 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 58631/ 72 Heading A1B A harrow comprises a plurality of timed rotors 5 juxtaposed along a transverse frame and two crank drive mechanisms 26, 27, each of which is connected, via a rod 22 and an associated drive bar 16, to alternate rotors 5 so that adjacent rotors 5 are reciprocated in opposite senses about respective vertical axes. The shafts 28, 29 of the mechanism 26, 27 carry intermeshing pinions 30A which are driven from an input shaft 32A of a gearbox 30 having intermeshing, exchangeable pinions 37, 38 mounted on shaft 32A and an idler shaft 34 respectively. The shaft 34 also has a pinion 35 intermeshing with the pinion 30A of the crank mechanism 27. The gear box 30 has a detachable housing part 39 to enable the gear wheels 37, 38 to be exchanged and/or replaced in order to alter the transmission ratio of the gearbox. The outer ends of the rods 22 are connected via a ball and socket joint 21 to a respective bar 16 which in turn are connected to respective alternate rotors by arms 13. Each rotor 5 comprises a vertical shaft 3 located in a pair of bearings 2 between two spaced frame beams 1 and four detachable tines 9 held in holders 7. A roller 56 is rotatably mounted between two rearwardly extending arms 53 which are pivotally mounted and can be held in one of a range of possbile inclinations by means of pins 59. The roller 56 comprises a plurality of equidistant, upright discs 57 interconnected by pipes 58 at their peripheries. The harrow is connected to the three point linkage of a tractor by apertures in the front ends of plates 34A and, for the lower drag links, a rod 46 which is removeably mounted in two slots 45 on respective ends of lower plates 44. The rod 46 is held in place by members 49 and can be removed and replaced by a different rod for matching a different three point linkage.
