Abstract
1411084 Axial piston pump SEVERN PUMPS Ltd 23 Nov 1972 [24 Nov 1971] 54303/71 Heading F1A A swash-plate pump for concrete and other slurries comprises a rotaty block 1 having cylinders 2 communicating directly with an arcuate suction space ABC, the portion AB providing free access to the cylinders 2, an arcuate guide member G located in the portion BC of the space having a tapered groove in its undersurface acting to guide solids into the cylinders during clockwise rotation of the block, as viewed in Fig.1. A transverse plate 3 inclined slightly to the dead centre line 4 separates the suction space from the delivery space. The pistons, Fig.4, comprise a core 22 slidably carrying a double head 24, 25 urged against the head of a bolt 29 by a dish spring 27 to provide some cushioning. The space between the heads 24, 25 communicates via ports 31 with the interior of the block 1 which is filled with water via shaft passages 36, 37. The swash-plate 11 is supported on inclined surface 12 by a hydrostatic bearing 13 and is rotated with the block by bevel gears 14, 15. The pump is mounted on trunnions 50 so that it may be tilted for cleaning. Water is also supplied to an eccentric annular groove (46), Fig.5 (not shown) for coding and lubricating the surface of a replaceable wear plate 40 which forms the upper end of the block.
