Abstract

1410987 Mining or tunnelling machine GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 6 Dec 1972 [7 Dec 1971 13 April 1972 19 Aug 1972] 56340/72 Heading E1F A mining or tunnelling machine comprises a mobile chassis 12 supporting means 21 for detaching material from a workface, means 23 for receiving the material, a conveyor 24 located at each side of the means 23, the means 23 and the conveyors together forming a single constructional unit displaceable with respect to the chassis, and a loading device 36 for transferring the mateial from the means 23 to the conveyor. The conveyors may be scraper chain conveyors converging together away from the face, Fig. 2 (not shown), the said constructional unit being pivotable about a horizontal shaft 31 carried by a vertical shaft 32 on a pillar 30 on a chassis 12. Alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown) the unit may be carried by a thrust bearing (51, 52) on the chassis and be supported by a roller (58) on the pillar 30. Material is detached by a cutting device (disc or drum) carried by a boom 16 pivotally mounted by a shaft 17 on a turntable 13 rotatable about a vertical axis on the chassis 12. The loading device 36 includes a plate tapering in thickness toward its edges and mounted on the means 23 to be oscillated on a shaft 37 by hydraulic actuators (41). Or the plate may be mounted on the beam 16 and be moved relative to the means 23 by the rotation of the turntable 13. Four supports 33 are pivotally mounted on the chassis and may be raised or lowered by actuators 35. There may also be attached to the chassis an assembly (60), Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) comprising two frames (61), (62) connected by hydraulic actuators (63), each frame carrying locking devices (68) for engaging the surface of a gallery, controlled by actuators (70).
