1410961 Hydrodesulphurisation catalyst BRITISH PETROLEUM CO LTD 25 Oct 1973 [6 Nov 1972] 51038/72 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] A hydrodesulphinisation catalyst comprises 1-10% wt of an iron group metal, 5-25% wt of Cr, Mo, or W, 1-10% wt of Uranium and a refractory support, e.g. alumina, silica, silicaalumina having an initial macropore volume of wt of phosphate. Suitably, the support is an alumina having an initial macropore volume of at least 0.1 ml/g which is reduced by at least 20% if an addition of the uranium, an initial micropore volume of 0.2-1.0 ml/g and an initial surface area of 200-500 m<SP>2</SP>/g. The metals may be present as the oxides or sulphides.
