Abstract
1392220 Porous refractory material KURARAY CO Ltd 16 Oct 1972 [25 Oct 1971] 47599/72 Headings CIA and C1N [Also in Divisions B1 C2 and C5] A porous refractory material (i.e. silica, alumina, silica-alumina, titania or zirconia), having an average pore radius of 100 to 10,000 wherein at least 80% of the total pore volume is accounted for by pores whose radii lie in the range 0À8R to 1À2R, where R is the pore radius of the pore volume present in largest proportion in the pore volume distribution, is made by calcining preferably at 650 to 2000 C. a quantity of the said refractory having the required sharp distribution of pore size but whose average pore radius is less than that of the desired product. Calcination is preferably effected by 650 to 2000 C. for 30 mins. to 10 hrs. The average pore radius of the refractory is preferably 150 to 7000 and the surface area from 2 to 200 m.<SP>2</SP>/g., preferably 5 to 100 m.<SP>2</SP>/g.
