Abstract
1410958 Shotgun FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL SA 7 Dec 1972 [14 Jan 1972] 56580/72 Heading F3C A double-barrel shotgun comprises barrels 1, 2, Fig. 1, a forestock 3 and a gun lever 4 which is pivotally mounted to the gun at 6, each barrel 1 or 2 having a percussion and ejection device. The latter has a cocking lever 7 pivoted at 8 on the forestock 3, an end 9 of the lever 7 being profiled to co-operate with a chamfered end 10 of an axially movable cocking rod 11 which is supported by the gun lever 4. The other end of the rod 11 is urged by a spring 12 against a shoulder 13 of a percussion hammer 14 which is pivoted at 15 and is moved towards an anvil 16 by a pin 17 urged by a spring 18. The hammer 14 is maintained in its cocked position by a tumbler 19 which is released by the operation of a trigger 20. A portion 21, Fig. 3, of the lever 7 engages an ejection tumbler 22 which is hinged, 23, to the forestock 3 and is urged by a spring 24. An ejection hammer 25 is hinged at 26 to the forestock 3, has a tip 27 engageable with the tumbler 22, has a nose 28 which is located adjacent a shoulder 29 of a ram-rod 30, Fig. 1, the latter being connected to an extractor 31, and is urged by a spring 33, via a pin 32. The shoulder 29 has an arm 34 received between protuberances 35, 36, Fig. 3, of the gun lever 4. The gun is opened by a key 37. After firing, the percussion hammer 14, Fig. 2, abuts the anvil 16, having moved the rod 11 so that its end 10 Fig. 3, engages the end 9 of the cocking lever 7. When the gun is being opened, the relative angular movement of the forestock 3 and the gun lever 4 causes the retraction of the cocking- rod 11, the cocking of the hammer 14 by the end 9 of the cocking lever 7, the portion 21 of the lever 7 to move the tumbler 22 against the urging of the spring 24, and the shoulder 35 of the gun lever 4 to move the arm 31 and partially extract cases 38, 39 from the gun. When the gun is fully opened, the portion 21, Fig. 6, of the lever 7 again moves the tumbler 22 and thus releases the tip 27 of the ejection hammer 25 which is then urged by the spring 33, via the pin 32. The nose 28 hits the ramrod shoulder 29 and the latter causes the extractor 31 to eject empty cases 38, 39. The movement of the extractor 31 is then arrested by the protuberance 36 being abutted by the arm 34 of the shoulder 29. When the gun is being closed, the protuberance 36 moves the arm 34 to cause the extractor 31 to be retracted and the hammer 25 to return to its initial position. The tumbler 22 is returned by the spring 24 and the cocking lever 7 resumes the pre-firing position as shown in Fig. 1. The release of the ejection hammer 25 can be effected when the gun lever 4, Fig. 5, has moved a distance d, thus enabling the empty case 39 to be ejected clear of the lever 4. The timing of the release of the ejection hammer 25 is effected by a screw 40, carried by the tumbler 22, which adjusts the cocking rod 11, via the cocking rod 7.
