1410835 Omega-ureidocarboxylic acids BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 9 Feb 1973 [10 Feb 1972] 6432/73 Heading C2C An omega-ureidocarboxylic acid is produced by reacting an omega-lactam with urea in the presence of an alkali, e.g. NaOH, KOH, and in the presence of an inert solvent, e.g. water or a C 1 to C 4 alkanol or mixtures thereof, at elevated temperature, and recovering the free omegaureidocarboxylic acid from the resultant salt by treatment with a mineral acid or acid ion exchanger. Exemplified is the producton of #- ureidocaproic acid, γ-ureidobutyric acid and 8- ureidocaprylic acid from caprolactam, pyrrolidone-(2), and caprylolactam respectively.
