Abstract

1410374 Spray carburetters; reciprocating diaphragm pumps WALBRO CORP 25 Oct 1972 49194/72 Headings F1A F1B and F1N In a carburetter with a diaphragm-controlled fuel inlet valve 166 the chamber defined by the diaphragm 162 and receiving fuel through the valve is connected to the inlet passage 242 of a vapour pump which pumps fuel vapour from the chamber. The diaphragms 184 and 200 of the fuel pump supplying the valve 166 and the vapour pump are operated by pressure pulsations from the crank-case of an associated engine through passages 206 and 208. Fuel is drawn from the tank T through a filter 232 and an inlet valve 224 to the fuel pump chamber 181. The diaphragm 184 is biased by a circular part 186 of a leaf-spring clamped by a part 188 between plates 178, 192 defining the pumping chambers. The inlet and outlet passages of the fuel pump are connected to pulse damping chambers 216 and 216 containing parts of a diaphragm 222 subject to atmospheric pressure. The vapour pump may have its inlet passage (106), Fig. 1 (not shown), connected to the top of a recess (70) housing the spring (68) biasing the lever (62) carrying the fuel inlet valve (66).
