Abstract
1410199 Automatic voltage control COMPAGNIE HONEYWELL BULL 21 Dec 1972 [28 Dec 1971] 59166/72 Heading G3R A chopper arrangement for a power supply circuit includes a sawtooth generator and two comparator circuits which receive the sawtooth signal, a reference signal, and a feedback signal and produce output pulses of variable duration which are supplied to AND gates together with signals from a bi-stable device to form control signals for a pair of switches in the supply. In Fig.1, A.C. supply terminals 1 are connected through chopper elements 10, 11, which may be transistors, to a transformer 2, the output of which is rectified and filtered. The output voltage is sensed at a terminal 7 and fed back to a differential amplifier 12 where it is compared with a reference signal r to produce an error signal e. A second comparator circuit 13 receives as inputs the error signal and a sawtooth signal S from a generator 14, and supplies variable width pulses to control the elements 10, 11. Pulses from a bi-stable circuit 15, derived from the generator 14, set AND gates 16, 17 so that the pulses from circuit 13 are fed to the appropriate chopper element. The sawtooth generator 14 may include a uni-junction transistor and a capacitor which supply synchronized signals to the comparator 13 and bi-stable circuit 15, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown).
