Abstract
140,855. Ionides, A. C. Dec. 30, 1918. Pressure - regulating- regulating valves. - A pressure-regulating valve apparatus tor maintaining a constant pressure relation between two elastic fluids, and of the type operated by a liquid-sealed bell &c. subjected to the outlet pressures of the two fluids, is fitted with means which, if one supply fails, allows the uncontrolled pressure of the other fluid to act on the actuator to close the valve controlling that fluid. The actuating-bell c dips into an annular tank e<3> of stamped metal supported by an annular casting e<4> provided with adjustable feet e<5>, and is connected to the double-beat air valve b and gas valve a by the system of links and levers described in Specification 110,568. The central domed part h of the tank, upon which the bell rests in its lowest position, is provided with a pipe j leading to the outlet side of the gas valve. If the air supply fails, the bell rises to close the gas valve and simultaneously moves a valve m to close communication between the pipe j and the outlet l. Further movement of the bell lifts a valve o seated in the valve m, against the action of a spring p, to open communication between the pipe j and inlet k by way of ports a<2> in the valve member a<1>, hollow spindle n, and ported plug m<2>. In a modification, the valve o is opened before the valve m is seated.
