Abstract

1407283 Forging BAYERISCHES LEICHTMETALLWERK GRAF BUCHER VON WAHLSTATT KG 24 Oct 1972 [27 July 1972] 48912/72 Heading B3H A forging die comprises an upper die member 1 formed with a pressure applying surface 4 and a lower die member 2 formed with a seat 8 on which a blank 3 to be forged is supported, the area of the seat being less than the area of the surface 4 of the upper die member. The die members co-operate to define a closed die cavity and during advance of the upper die member the blank is caused to deform by initial flow in the direction of advance of the upper die member until the lower die cavity 5 is full and by flow into spaces 9, 10 of the upper die cavity 11. The blank may be heated to 1000‹ C. before forging. An ejector 7 is provided to remove the forged blank. The forged article may be a component of a shaft coupling.
