Abstract

1406997 Milling cutters WICKMAN WIMET Ltd 27 Oct 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 51319/71 Heading B3K A face-milling cutter rotatable about axis 11 has detachable cutting inserts 12 located around the periphery of the cutter body 10 with uniformly increasing radial extensions as shown in Fig. 1. The maximum and minimum extensions are exhibited by the two inserts 12 on opposite sides of a scraper insert 15 which is extended further than inserts 12, all of which extend the same amount, in the direction parallel to axis 11 so as to produce a finishing cut. Two forms of scraper insert 15a, 15b are shown in Fig. 2. The inserts may be mounted directly to the body in radial slots of varying depth or each insert, e.g. circular insert 19 Fig. 3 may be mounted in a shoe 14 adjustably pivotable about a fulcrum 20 by a screw 21 reached through hole 22 after which the shoe is clamped to the body 10.
