Abstract

1406786 Reels XEROX CORP 29 March 1973 15109/73 Heading B8M [Also in Division G2] In an electrographic reproduction machine, a polythene web 4 is interposed between an electrostatographic drum 1 and a developer roll 30, the web 4 being carried by a cassette (Fig. 3) having two separable parts i.e. a supply chamber 5 and a take-up spool 6. One of the separable parts 6 and the drum 1 are pivotably mounted to permit separation of the parts 5, 6 and positioning of the web 4 around the drum 1. As shown in Fig. 1, the cassette 5, 6 has an open configuration when the drum 1 is at its operable location, but in another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), it has a closed configuration in the operable position. The web 4 may have sprocket holes to facilitate control of its advancement, and sensor means may be provided to detect loss of web tension caused for example by breakage of the web.
