Abstract

1406446 Punching COLEY-ROTOLIN Ltd 9 Aug 1973 [10 May 1972] 21759/72 Heading B3W A press or die set actuator has a fixed die or other tool support 3, a movable punch or other tool support 22 and first and second reciprocable drive means 10 and 31 respectively. Means 10 comprise a hydraulic cylinder and piston unit 11, 12 which pivots a rocker 17 connected to the support 22 by a coupling 18, 19. Means 31 comprise a double-acting pneumatic cylinder connected to a pair of links 26, the other end of which is connected to the pivot rod 25 of the rocker 17. A rod 27 coupling the upper ends of the links 26 is journalled at each end in slots 28 in the press, &c. frame so that movement of the rod 27 to the right hand end of the slots moves the pivot axis 25 away from the die support 3. The next stroke will then be a long one, movement of the rod 27 to the left by cylinder 31 to lower the pivot 25 being followed by action of the cylinder 10 to complete the lowering of the plate 22. The return movement of the rocker 17 is actuated by a spring 13. For short strokes, the cylinder 31 keeps the link 26 in the vertical position. The coupling 18, 20 is of adjustable length. The apparatus is intended particularly to be used for setting up a die set for transfer to a press.
