Abstract

1406366 Electronic watches SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 13 July 1973 [31 July 1972] 33527/73 Heading G3T In a digital electronic watch (e.g. using liquid crystal display), to prevent interference by faulty contacts of mechanical switches upon the normal running of the watch, the time-correcting switches 6, Fig. 6, and a safety switch 7 (which must be operated before the correction switches are effective) are not connected directly to a frequency divider and distributer circuit 3 but are connected via a control circuit 12. The switches 6 for hours, minutes, seconds correction respectively, are connected to inputs 1, 2 and 3, Fig. 8, of circuit 12, the outputs of which are connected to the circuit 3. When time is to be corrected, a signal is applied via switch 7 to cause the control circuit 12 to connect the time-correcting switches to the divider/distributer circuit 3. During normal running of the watch the safety switch armature contacts the earthed contact and the outputs of the correction switches are thereby earthed. The watch may comprise a quartz crystal controlled oscillator followed by a C-MOS divider circuit, and a C-MOS divider distributer circuit.
